Grackle is a large black bird with iridescent feathers that change color depending on the light. Grackle indicates shifting and intensifying emotions in and around us. It is time to become creative in how we experience, express and handle emotions. Ask yourself if the emotions you are experiencing are constructive or even necessary.
Hello Everyone! I hope summer is going well for you. In addition to posting weekly Animal Totem messages, I will now also be sharing my animal communication and healing stories with you. People often wonder what exactly I do or what happens during a typical session, although there is no typical session!
My animal communication and healing adventures began with my previous dog, Zeke. I was already very interested in energy work and had been for some time. I was just beginning to explore energy work when Zeke became quite ill. He had health problems off and on through much of his life because of some auto-immune disorder, but he grew much worse during the last couple years of his life. He had some serious digestive issues and developed many food intolerances. When his stomach was bothering him, I would hear it making gurgling noises, and I could tell by his posture that he was in terrible discomfort. Without really knowing much about energy work at the time, I instinctively hovered my hands over his belly. I immediately felt the energy flowing, and my hands began to tingle. I saw a murky dark yellow color all around his abdomen. As I held my hands there, the color became a clear, bright yellow, and the gurgling stopped! Soon Zeke began coming to me for energy healing whenever he needed it. He would approach me and position his body to show me where he needed help.
Zeke crossed over a couple of years ago, but I give him credit for really getting me on this road. He is now my partner in crime when I work with animals. He is quite a healer himself.
For June 2019, Chipmunk stepped forward with a message for you. As you probably know, chipmunks store up food and stay in their burrows for most of the winter. Chipmunk says, “Winter is over! Come out and play! Enjoy nature and the feel of unpaved earth under your feet. Get your hands dirty.” Chipmunks also have a very acute sense of smell. Another message for you is to trust the tone of someone’s voice rather than just the words. Also, trust the tone of a situation rather than just the actions you see going on around you.
I will be at Library Fire Hall (South Park, PA) on Sunday, May 5 from 12-5 pm doing pet readings as part of a psychic fair. This is a very nice fair with reputable readers and great vendors. Readings are $30 for 15 minutes. I hope to see you there!
Hello Everyone. Here’s what I have going on over the next few weeks: Pendulum Class at Journeys in Shadyside on Thursday, April 25 from 7-8:30 PM . Please call Journeys to register. I will be at Library Fire Hall on Sunday, May 5 from 12-5 PM doing pet readings at the spirit fair. I’m available for Reiki & Reflexology (for people) and also for pet readings at Peace Love & Zen in East Liberty on Monday and Friday afternoons. Please check the Calendar page of the website for details.
I’m starting a new monthly feature on this blog. I will share a message from the animal kingdom that is intended for anyone who reads this. After today, I will post a message at the beginning of the month. Your first message is from Tortoise. Tortoise is one of our most ancient species and they live a long time. Your message: Get in touch with and trust your primal senses and rhythms. Trust your own unique flow in order to be successful, and understand that some things need to manifest over a period of time. Look at the big picture of your current life cycle over the last 1-3 years in order to make sense of things rather than getting bogged down by the day to day trivial details.
Another one opens!
The owner of Journeys in Shadyside has decided to retire, but I will still be working there until the store closes. I will be at Journeys Spirit Fair on April 7 at the Ace Hotel in East Liberty along with some other readers and vendors. It’s a lovely event. At the last spirit fair, all of the readers were quite busy, so it’s a good idea to call Journeys at 412-681-8755 to schedule your session in advance. I will also be teaching a pendulum class at the store on April 25 from 7-8:30 PM. The cost of the class is $30, and you’ll need your own pendulum. Please call Journeys to register.
Starting on April 8, I will be working at Peace Love & Zen in East Liberty (Pittsburgh) doing pet readings, reflexology/energy work for people and also teaching the occasional class. I have added a calendar page to the website so you can see where I am throughout the month. I will be offering my Animal Communication and Energy Work for the Pet Owner class online some time in the near future. Please check the website and blog post for updates.
As always, I’m available by phone for healing/readings for people and for pets, which can be scheduled at any time that is convenient for both of us. I am also available to provide individual coaching. Details are on the website http://www.healingtechnique.net/
Pet Tip: Do you have rescued pet? Tell them they are home for good, even if they’ve been with you for a while. Some animals realize this, but many do not. Many still worry that they will be shuffled around again. Don’t worry if you do not have any animal communication experience. They will get the message.
Happy spring! I have cancelled my class on Basic Animal Energy Work and Communication on McKnight Road. I AM teaching this class at Journeys of Life in Shadyside on Monday, March 18 and Monday, Mach 25 from 7-8:30 PM. This is ONE class held in two parts. There are still a few openings. Please call Journeys at 412-681-8755 to register. Also, this class will be offered ONLINE in the near future. Please check back as updates will be posted when this class becomes available.
This class will include the following: What energy work is, how communication works, simple energy techniques for your pet (and you), communicating with your pet (especially helpful regarding trips to the vet or if you’re going away), reassurance for rescued pets, recognizing your own animal totems and more. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
Pet Tip: Although our pets seem very human at times, it is important to remember that they are still animals with their own set of instincts. Cats hunt. Greyhounds run. Beagles bay (howl). It’s in their DNA. KNOW the pet you’re getting before you bring him/her home. Choose an animal that fits your lifestyle. Adoption counselors at rescue organizations are very good at helping you with this. It’s their job. You make think that border collies are great (of course they are), but are you able and prepared to deal with the constant stimulation and exercise they need? And PLEASE provide proper positive training for your pet so that you can all live happily ever after.
For optimal well being, healing and self care must occur on both the physical and mental/emotional levels. In Chinese medicine (and many Eastern philosophies), various emotional states are connected to different organs and body parts. We store various issues and traumas in our bodies: “Your issues are in your tissues”. If you’ve had an injury or problem that you have addressed, possibly several times, but it keeps coming back, chances are that you need healing on an emotional/mental level as well. As a personal trainer, I address the physical side of things. As a healer, I address the emotional/mental aspect. For example, hip problems can be related to moving forward. If you have a physical hip injury, you should certainly address it. As a healer, I can help you clear the issues that keep bringing the problem back. I do this through Reflexology, Reiki and various forms of energy work. I facilitate SELF HEALING, which requires your active participation to achieve maximum benefit. As a trainer, I can give you advice on exercises that would benefit you.
Upcoming events: I will be at Journeys in Shadyside doing pet readings on Saturday, Feb. 23 from 1-5 PM. Please call Journeys to schedule a session or stop in. Topics will include: an explanation of energy work and communication, tips on enabling communication with your pet, simple energy work techniques you can do for your pet, reassurance for rescued pets, and recognizing your own animal totems and guides. Please call or email if you have questions or would like to register for this class, which is $75. Space is limited to 12 participants. Anyone is welcome, so please feel free to share this information with anyone you know who may be interested. I hope to see you there!

Pet tip: If your pet is feeling anxious for any reason (vet visit, storm, construction in your home, etc), visualize a pink protective bubble around him/her to help with feelings of security. This is one of the many things that will be discussed in my upcoming class.
If you need some recovery from the winter weather and holidays, come to the next Group Healing Session on January 31 from 6-8 pm at 4550 McKnight Road. Enjoy some inner peace and calm in our serene room. Winter is a time for going inward. For this session, we will focus on clearing what no longer serves us to make space for the right things to come into our lives. Please hold your spot by calling or e-mailing Kerry. More details about Group Healing Sessions can be found here. These sessions are open to anyone.
Sleep Tip: Dab a few drops of lavender essential oil behind your ears and on the back of your neck at bedtime to induce calm and relaxation, or any time you need to unwind.
I am now offering group healing sessions at the McKnight Road location. All the details are here. You will receive all the benefits of the session just by showing up and relaxing, plus you will learn easy techniques for self-care.
Animal Tip: When trying to understand your pet’s behavior, it is important to remember that although they are seeing the same things as you, they are interpreting situations through THEIR own perspective, which may not be the same as yours. For example, my dog came here from Tennessee. Last winter was her first experience with snow. She was very unsure about going to the bathroom in the snow! She thought that maybe it was a surface she was not supposed to pee on until I explained it to her. She saw it as a barrier to the ground. If you’re unsure of your pet’s interpretation of a situation, I can help!
