Upcoming Class Info & Tip

Happy spring! I have cancelled my class on Basic Animal Energy Work and Communication on McKnight Road. I AM teaching this class at Journeys of Life in Shadyside on Monday, March 18 and Monday, Mach 25 from 7-8:30 PM. This is ONE class held in two parts. There are still a few openings. Please call Journeys at 412-681-8755 to register. Also, this class will be offered ONLINE in the near future. Please check back as updates will be posted when this class becomes available.

This class will include the following: What energy work is, how communication works, simple energy techniques for your pet (and you), communicating with your pet (especially helpful regarding trips to the vet or if you’re going away), reassurance for rescued pets, recognizing your own animal totems and more. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Pet Tip: Although our pets seem very human at times, it is important to remember that they are still animals with their own set of instincts. Cats hunt. Greyhounds run. Beagles bay (howl). It’s in their DNA. KNOW the pet you’re getting before you bring him/her home. Choose an animal that fits your lifestyle. Adoption counselors at rescue organizations are very good at helping you with this. It’s their job. You make think that border collies are great (of course they are), but are you able and prepared to deal with the constant stimulation and exercise they need? And PLEASE provide proper positive training for your pet so that you can all live happily ever after.

Levels of Healing

For optimal well being, healing and self care must occur on both the physical and mental/emotional levels. In Chinese medicine (and many Eastern philosophies), various emotional states are connected to different organs and body parts. We store various issues and traumas in our bodies: “Your issues are in your tissues”. If you’ve had an injury or problem that you have addressed, possibly several times, but it keeps coming back, chances are that you need healing on an emotional/mental level as well. As a personal trainer, I address the physical side of things. As a healer, I address the emotional/mental aspect. For example, hip problems can be related to moving forward. If you have a physical hip injury, you should certainly address it. As a healer, I can help you clear the issues that keep bringing the problem back. I do this through Reflexology, Reiki and various forms of energy work. I facilitate SELF HEALING, which requires your active participation to achieve maximum benefit. As a trainer, I can give you advice on exercises that would benefit you.

Upcoming events: I will be at Journeys in Shadyside doing pet readings on Saturday, Feb. 23 from 1-5 PM. Please call Journeys to schedule a session or stop in. I will be teaching a class “Animal Energy Work and Communication for the Pet Owner” on Sunday, March 24 from 1-4 PM at my McKnight Road location. Topics will include: an explanation of energy work and communication, tips on enabling communication with your pet, simple energy work techniques you can do for your pet, reassurance for rescued pets, and recognizing your own animal totems and guides. On Sunday, March 24, 2019, I will be teaching a workshop “Basic Energy Work and Communication for the Pet Owner”. This class will be from 1-4 PM and the cost is $75 per person. Pet tip: If your pet is feeling anxious for any reason (vet visit, storm, construction in your home, etc), visualize a pink protective bubble around him/her to help with feelings of security. This is one of the many things that will be discussed in my upcoming class.

Group Healing Session and Sleep Tip

If you need some recovery from the winter weather and holidays, come to the next Group Healing Session on January 31 from 6-8 pm at 4550 McKnight Road. Enjoy some inner peace and calm in our serene room. Winter is a time for going inward. For this session, we will focus on clearing what no longer serves us to make space for the right things to come into our lives. Please hold your spot by calling or e-mailing Kerry. More details about Group Healing Sessions can be found here. These sessions are open to anyone.

Sleep Tip: Dab a few drops of lavender essential oil behind your ears and on the back of your neck at bedtime to induce calm and relaxation, or any time you need to unwind.

Recharge after the Holidays!

I am now offering group healing sessions at the McKnight Road location.  All the details are here. You will receive all the benefits of the session just by showing up and relaxing, plus you will learn easy techniques for self-care.

Animal Tip: When trying to understand your pet’s behavior, it is important to remember that although they are seeing the same things as you, they are interpreting situations through THEIR own perspective, which may not be the same as yours. For example, my dog came here from Tennessee. Last winter was her first experience with snow. She was very unsure about going to the bathroom in the snow! She thought that maybe it was a surface she was not supposed to pee on until I explained it to her. She saw it as a barrier to the ground. If you’re unsure of your pet’s interpretation of a situation, I can help!

Welcome and a Holiday Tip

Hello everyone and welcome to my new blog! I plan to post about twice a month or as needed if there is an announcement. I will also post the blog updates on my facebook page.

I’m currently offering a special on Reflexology/Energy Work sessions at my McKnight Road location — $10 off a 60 minute session. The regular price is $80, but through December 24, the price is $70. This applies to sessions for yourself or for gift certificates. If you’d like to purchase a gift certificate, please contact me and I will email you an invoice which you can pay online. I will then send the gift certificate to you or the recipient, whichever you prefer.

People often ask how I’m able to do animal communication and energy work without the pet or person being present. Location and distance are irrelevant regarding communication and energy work. It’s like flipping a light switch. You don’t see the electricity, but you see the light come on instantly. Energy work and communication work similarly.

I am now doing pet sessions at Journeys of Life in Shadyside a few times a month. Dates and times are posted on the Events page of my website. In December, I will be there on the 9th, 16th and 23rd from 1-5 PM. Please call Journeys at 412-681-8755 to schedule a session there. As always, I’m also available for in person sessions on McKnight Road or by phone.

I’m also offering my services in a new way — parties! Round up a few friends, and I will come to your home to do pet sessions, communication with deceased loved ones, or both. The person hosting the party receives his or her session for free. Sessions are about 20-30 minutes in length, depending on the number of clients. Please contact me to schedule a party or for more information.

Holiday Tip: In my many years as a personal trainer, one of the biggest complaints I’ve heard around the holidays is low back pain from hours of cooking, baking and decorating. It can leave you feeling like you’ve done a full day of yard work. Since you are spending so much time bending over, you need to move your body in the OPPOSITE direction. There are a few ways to do this. While standing, relax your knees and place your hands on the back of your hips just above your rear end. Gently lean back and hold for a few seconds. Repeat this a few times. You can also do the yoga poses cat-cow (on hands and knees, rounding back up to ceiling then arching back) and cobra stretch (face down on floor, hands under shoulder and gently arch upper body up without shrugging). Taking a moment to do these movements periodically as you do your work can help to save you from pain later. Soaking in an epsom salt bath is also very beneficial. Enjoy your holidays!
